We are less than three weeks away from the beginning of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, which is always one of the best sporting events of the year. March Madness is a huge betting event in the United States, and it is always a tournament that is filled with upsets and unpredictable outcomes.
The state of California is loaded with Division I basketball teams, but these teams have not done well in the NCAA Tournament in recent years. There have been some years when just one or two teams have reached the field of 68, but that number could be much higher this season.
Sportsbooks have already unveiled their odds to win the 2021 NCAA Tournament, and you won’t see many California teams high on that list. The USC Trojans are currently listed at +4500, and they are the first team from the state to appear.
San Diego State and UCLA are the next two teams to appear on the list, with odds currently being offered at +7500. The Stanford Cardinal are next at +8000.
The Year For Gonzaga?
The best team on the West Coast is the Gonzaga Bulldogs, and it has been that way for the last several seasons. Gonzaga is the top-ranked team in the country this season, and it is currently the betting favorite to cut down the nets in Indianapolis.
Gonzaga is listed at +250 to win the national championship, but it has some elite company. The Baylor Bears are listed at +300, and they have just one loss at this point of the season.
Pac-12 Tournament Odds
The Pac-12 Conference Tournament is expected to be highly competitive due to so much parity in the league this year. A pair of California teams are currently the betting favorites, but that could change in the days leading up to the start of the tournament.
The USC Trojans are the current favorites to win the Pac-12 Conference Tournament, with odds set at +145. The UCLA Bruins are next on the list at +280, and a championship game featuring these two teams would be a terrific finale.
The Colorado Buffaloes (+280) and the Oregon Ducks (+370) round out the top four teams in terms of betting odds. Stanford is fifth on the list, but the Cardinal have odds of just +1500 to win the automatic bid.
NCAA Tournament Update
After being forced to cancel the 2020 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, there was simply no way that action would be taken again. Instead of trying to work out the logistics of hosting a normal tournament, the entire tournament will be played in Indianapolis and the surrounding area.
There will still be a 68-team field this season, but the schedule has been adjusted a bit. There will also be four emergency teams added to the field that could take the place of any team that is unable to participate.
Another major announcement was that fans will be allowed to attend the 2021 NCAA Tournament, but few details have been provided at this time.
