The Los Angeles Lakers got off to a rocky start in their first-round playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers. But after losing Game 1, the Lakers responded by beating the Blazers by a score of 111-88 in Game 2 of the series on Thursday.
LeBron James recorded a triple-double in the Game 1 loss, but it was Anthony Davis who was the biggest star in Game 2. Davis had 31 points and 11 rebounds in the win, and he dominated the paint from the first quarter on.
The Lakers also found a way to slow down Damian Lillard, although a finger injury played a role in that as well. Lillard had just 18 points in the win, and his injury status could play a huge factor in this series moving forward.
Los Angeles remains one of the co-favorites to win the Western Conference, along with the LA Clippers. FanDuel Sportsbook currently has the Clippers at +110, while the Lakers check in at +200.
Lakers Falling Off in Title Odds
The Milwaukee Bucks have been the NBA title favorites since the beginning of the season, and their performance during the regular season kept them the favorites. The Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers have both spent time up in the second spot, as the odds have changed throughout the season.
Entering the playoffs, the Lakers were right in line with the LA Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks, but their Game 1 loss set them back a bit. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Los Angeles Lakers are listed at +440 to win the NBA Championship.
The Milwaukee Bucks are the title favorites at FanDuel, with odds set at +260. The LA Clippers have joined the Bucks on top, and they also now have odds listed at +260. Both the Clippers and Bucks have also suffered a loss through their first two games of the series.
Raptors a Challenger in East?
The Toronto Raptors are the defending NBA champions, but they were considered an afterthought heading into the 2019-20 season. That has changed, as the Raptors continue to play well.
Toronto has won their first three games of its first-round series against the Brooklyn Nets and has looked good in doing so. Toronto has seen its Eastern Conference championship odds reduced to +270, making them a legitimate threat to knock off the favored Milwaukee Bucks (-130).
NBA Draft Odds Now Available
The NBA Draft Lottery took place on Thursday, an important night for rebuilding teams. The Minnesota Timberwolves earned the first pick in the NBA Draft, while the Golden State Warriors got the second overall pick.
This also means that sportsbooks have updated their NBA Draft future odds, and that is the case at FanDuel Sportsbook. Bets can now be placed on which player will be taking with the No. 1 overall pick by the Timberwolves.
Anthony Edwards (-110) is the favorite to be chosen No. 1 overall, with James Wiseman (+200), and LaMelo Ball (+300) rounding out the top three.
