We are now more than two months through the 2022 MLB season, and the true title contenders have started to emerge. As expected, the Los Angeles Dodgers are among that group of contenders, and they remain the betting favorites to win the World Series.
These betting odds have been updated throughout the season, and the latest odds have the Dodgers set at +400 to win the World Series. This obviously doesn’t guarantee that the Dodgers are going to be crowned the champion, but they are good enough to make a run.
The New York Yankees always seem to be in the mix as well, and they are next on the list with odds set at +650. New York has two of the best teams in baseball this season as the Mets are actually third on the list with odds set at +700.
Discussion about another “Subway Series” has already started, and the Dodgers might end up being the only team that can keep that from happening. The Houston Astros (+750) and the Toronto Blue Jays (+950) remain in the mix as well in the AL.
Any Drama in the NL West?
The San Francisco Giants came out of nowhere to stun the Los Angeles Dodgers a season ago and win the NL West Division, but don’t expect that to happen again. The Giants have started to fade, but the San Diego Padres could eventually put some pressure on.
The Dodgers are the betting favorites to win the NL West at -370, making them the biggest favorite out of all six divisions. San Diego has odds set at +450 while the Giants come in at +1200. At this point of the season, you could get a big return on a bet if you took one of the underdogs.
Tight Race in the American League
While the Dodgers are the clear favorites to win the National League, things might be more tight in the American League. The Los Angeles Angels looked like they were going to be in the mix as well, but a long losing streak has seen those odds plummet.
Los Angeles now has odds set at +1000 to win the AL, and those are just the sixth-best odds. The Yankees are the slight favorites at the moment at +280, but the Houston Astros are right behind them at +350.
The Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, and Chicago White Sox are all in between the Astros and the Angels.
Betts or Machado For MVP?
The National League MVP race is tightening up as well, and that trophy could end up staying in the state of California. There are a couple of members of the Dodgers that could win that award, and one superstar is having a monster season for the San Diego Padres.
Mookie Betts is the current favorite to win the NL MVP Award, with odds set at +320. Manny Machado is keeping the pressure on as he has odds set at +440 and has carried the Padres in the absence of Fernando Tatis Jr.
Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers is still in the running also, but his odds have faded to +1500.
